When considering what home to buy, the community can be as important a consideration as the real estate itself. Here's a few reasons why I love living here to help you learn more about our beautiful community and all it has to offer.

Durango and its neighbors, Bayfield, Vallecito, Ignacio, & Hesperus are nestled in the southwest corner of Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. La Plata County is surrounded by the San Juan National forest, lending over 2 million acres of beautiful country to play on. The rugged San Juan & La Plata Mountain ranges create spectacular views everywhere you turn, and the temperate climate with 350 days of sunshine on average, makes Durango an outdoor enthusiasts’ Mecca. Mountain Biking, Rafting, Kayaking, skiing or snowboarding, hiking, fly fishing, world class golf, jeep tours, horseback riding, the activities are endless! Not to mention our beautiful, historic, downtown and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road & Steam Engine still puffing its way through the Animas Valley since 1880. Durango also offers fine dining, art galleries, and concerts including the San Juan Symphony, and so much more.

La Plata County has some of the best school districts, and on the collegit level Fort Lewis is ever growing in its achievements. La Plata County covers 1700 sq miles, Durango covers 4.37 sq mi of that, and has aproximately 16,900 inhabitants. Durango sits at about 6,512 ft elevation
